When I Wake Up
Wrote this one processing the loss of loved ones in recent years, Kate's dad, Peter, and our dear friend and congregant, Kae. I was thinking about how they are enjoying the fulfillment of all of God's promises to us...the realization of their faith. Can’t wait to see them again!
Lyrics:
I may not have the finer things
Not a rich man or a king
Even still my heart will sing
Of the hope of home with you
A sinful heart with a simple hope
To live again when my last breath goes
The only treasure a dead man knows
Is to wake up again with you
Chorus:
When I wake up I will sing again
When I wake up and you bring me in
The saints will cry he’s born again
When I wake up with you
Here I lie as the lights all fade
I can’t believe there’s no more wait
No regrets and no plans to make
Just one more step home to you
Bridge:
I will see you with my own two eyes
I will hear your voice and be satisfied
For all the years my ears had tried
I will finally be home with you
