Stuck
As we enter this new year, Psalm 84 has a promise for all you who have felt stuck. God—who is never stuck—will move you from his strength to his strength until he brings you home.
Interestingly, the authors of Psalm 84 have a story of redemption themselves. It was written by the Sons of Korah. These were King David’s prophets, worship leaders and special-teams military. However, they came from a broken family with a bad history. They were ancestors of Korah who opposed Moses and Aaron in the wilderness and organized a coup against God’s chosen servants in Numbers 16. God defended Moses and Aaron and killed the insurgents. Yet God kept Korah’s children alive. Korah’s descendants wrote some of the most devotional psalms in the Bible: ”As the deer pants for the water so my soul longs for you.” Thus the authors of Psalm 84—the Sons of Kora—are also a testimony to God’s redemption. No matter your past, he forgives; you are not stuck in it. He has new strength for you.
