Dandelion Studio Update
As promised here is an update on the progress of the Dandelion Studio. When we last left you we were in the midst of mudding and sanding the room. Kate and I probably lost a couple years off of our life from all the stuff we have breathed in, even with good masks on, but we figure we just get to see Jesus sooner;)
Even though at times it seemed like we would be lost in sanding purgatory forever, it did come to an end. Not because we finally got the walls perfect…not close really in this old house (I feel a much deeper appreciation for Bob Vila now) actually this project has continued our lifelong healing process from perfectionism. Thanks for that, Lord:) Sanding ended because you have to stop at some point and accept the limitations, imperfections, and futility of this world. AND, like love, we were told flat paint covers over a multitude of sins!
With a couple coats of paint on the walls it was on to the floor. We’ve decided to just leave the new sub floor exposed and seal it with primer. Kate is going to be painting up a storm in there anyway and the floor is sure to get a few coats of more colors on it as she does so. We think it came out pretty cool looking in the end.
Today we tackle the window trim, baseboards, and doors for the crawl spaces. Almost there! It really has transformed. This whole process has been yet another form of creativity for us. We have learned a lot…primarily that we will not be starting a contracting business anytime soon. We can’t wait to get in there and start creating the way we love to with music, drawing, and painting!
We hope you come to visit and create with us!
