AFTER SCHOOL ART CLASS - wonderfully made

Wonderfully Made

Register here

Mondays, April 8 - May 20, 4:30-5:30pm

You are wonderfully made.  Let's take a closer look!  Pets, favorite animals, faces, and you!  Learn the basics of drawing a face and (only for the 6th graders or students who want a challenge) how to use a grid to make drawing simpler.  We will go from drawing to painting in each project.  We will also foster an encouraging mindset when trying new things and making art.
Can't wait to create together!

Here's the plan (and if changes are needed, we will roll with it!):
April 8 – intro to drawing human faces and animals.
(Will take photos of students in class for future project)
Hwk: bring a picture of your pet to draw or favorite animal or favorite stuffed animal

April 15 - your pet/animal/stuffed animal drawing.  When finished, will transfer this drawing onto a canvas
Hwk: Transfer your drawing onto canvas if not finished in class

April 22 – SPRING BREAK

April 29 – Paint pet drawing with non-local color

May 6 – intro to humans... faces and bodies.  We will "quick sketch" (gesture draw) our bodies in class.
Hwk optional challenge: invent happy, sad, mad, surprised, blank, and silly faces

May 13 – draw your face from photo onto large paper
(6th graders can use the grid to challenge themselves)

May 20 – paint your face!
